"WE NOTICED"

This was written by Sherry Hackett, Buddy Hackett's widow........

President Obama:

Today I read of your administrations' plan to re-define September 11 as a National Service Day. Sir, it's time we had a talk.........

During your campaign, Americans watched as you made mockery of our tradition of standing and crossing your heart when the Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. You, out of four people on the stage, were the only one not honoring our tradition.

YES, "We noticed."

During one of your many speeches, Americans heard you say that you intended to visit all 57 states.
We all know that Islam, not America has 57 states.

YES, "We noticed."

When President Bush leaned over at Ground Zero and gently placed a flower on the memorial, while you nonchalantly tossed your flower onto the pile without leaning over.

YES, "We noticed."

Every time you apologized to other countries for America 's position on an issue we have wondered why you don't share our pride in this great country. When you have heard foreign leaders berate our country and our beliefs, you have not defended us. In fact, you insulted the British Crown beyond belief.

YES, "We noticed."

When your pastor of 20 years, "- - - -damned America " and said that 9/11 was " America 's chickens coming home to roost" and you denied having heard recriminations of that nature, we wondered how that could be. You later disassociated yourself from that church and Pastor Wright because it was politically expedient to do so.

YES, "We noticed."

When you announced that you would transform America , we wondered why. With all her faults, America is the greatest country on earth. Sir, KEEP THIS IN MIND, "if not for America and the people who built her, you wouldn't be sitting in the White House now." Prior to your election to the highest office in this Country, you were a senator from Illinois and from what we can glean from the records available, not a very remarkable one.

YES, "We noticed."

All through your campaign and even now, you have surrounded yourself with individuals who are basically unqualified for the positions for which you appointed them. Worse than that, the majority of them are people who, like you, bear no special allegiance, respect, or affection for this country and her traditions.

YES, "We noticed."

You are 9 months into your term and every morning millions of Americans wake up to a new horror heaped on us by you. You seek to saddle working Americans with a health care/insurance reform package that, along with cap and trade, will bankrupt this nation.

YES, "We noticed."

We seek, by protesting, to let our representatives know that we are not in favor of these crippling expenditures and we are labeled "un-American","racist", "mob". We wonder how we are supposed to let you know how frustrated we are. You have attempted to make our protests seem isolated and insignificant. Until your appointment, Americans had the right to speak out.

YES, "We noticed."

On September 11, 2001 there were no Republicans or Democrats, only Americans. And we all grieved together and helped each other in whatever way we could. The attack on 9/11 was carried out because we are Americans.

And YES, "We noticed."

There were many of us who prayed that as a black president you could help unite this nation. In six months you have done more to destroy this nation than the attack on 9/11. You have failed us.

YES, "We noticed."

September 11 is a day of remembrance for all Americans. You propose to make 9/11 a "National Service Day". While we know that you don't share our reverence for 9/11, we pray that history will report your proposal as what it is...a disgrace.

YES, "We noticed."

You have made a mockery of our Constitution and the office that you hold. You have embarrassed and slighted us in foreign visits and policy.

YES, "We noticed.."

We have noticed all these things. We will deal with you. When Americans come together again, it will be to remove you from office.

Take Notice.

The End.

I Sure Hope Americans Will Remove You From Office Next Election. LRH.

So far just Listening to the Clips I would say My Favorite Song Will Be;
IN THE NAME OF JESUS. or Else; THE SUN WILL SHINE AGAIN.
Expecting Good Things
Seems if we could just somehow find perspective and see 'the big picture', we'd all do better at keeping a positive outlook on life. Too often, we grumble and complain about minor inconveniences as if they were just the most horrible set of circumstances when, in actuality, they are just simply inconvenient. Paul said he had 'learned to be content' in whatever state he found himself, meaning that we, too, can 'learn to be content', trusting that God is at work in our lives. We really can trust Him with our every breath. Just because you can't see the sun, doesn't mean it isn't there. Wake up each morning expecting good things, knowing that the sun will shine again, and believing that God and Heaven are awaiting you!

I Know I Love You

There are a lot of things in life I don't know. Who invented the washing machine? Where is Timbuktoo? Why have I been so blessed? And then, there are those things I know beyond a shadow of a doubt. I know I love Jeff, and there is no sweeter sound than when he says my name. I know I fell in love with my babies the moment I held them in my arms and looked into their tiny eyes. I know that my Mama can touch my hand and communicate things that words simply cannot. I may not know everything, but I know I am loved.

Working On A Road

At a Gaither concert, Gordon Mote approached Jeff with the idea that he should record the old Lester Flatt tune, "Workin' On A Road". Jeff and I both remembered the song and we began brainstorming ideas for how to give the old song new life. We were both brought up listening to bluegrass music and the thing I think is so unique to bluegrass is the energy of the song. Whether the song is slow and mournful or chicken-pickin' fast, it exudes an energy that is captivating. Before long, you're tapping your toes or clapping your hands to a melody that feels like home. Nothing could have made this song any better than having our long time friends and Grand Ole Opry members, Marty Stuart and Connie Smith sing along with us. Also, joining us on some really smooth bass is the new 'voice' of WSM, Eddie Stubbs. A great friend of more than 25 years. Thanks to these legendary voices, the song, once again, became new!

Love Remains

After such a tough year, I told Jeff, "I hope and pray no one ever has to go through what we have, but I pray everyone can feel as loved." Cards, letters, phone calls, floral arrangements, small gifts, books, music, emails--it was unbelievable to witness the outpouring of love from God's children. Prayers were being offered up on my behalf; my family was being lifted 'into heavenly places' by these kind gestures. It's amazing when your solid ground is shaken, everything is stripped away, and your faith seems distant, the one thing that remains is love. "Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days"--Psalm 90:14 (NIV)

Time For Me To Fly
Last year as we began selecting songs for our upcoming project, the song, Time For Me To Fly, was the first song I chose knowing that it would be the debut single for our daughter, Morgan. She was accepting an awesome responsibility to travel and sing, while still attending high school. I was very aware of the sacrifices she would have to make, but I also knew the overwhelming joy it would be to sing songs of hope and encouragement to a hurting world. Last year was a test of faith for our entire family and Morgan knows firsthand how young people need encouragement when life doesn't seem fair. Spread your wings, baby girl, it's time for you to fly!

Born to Climb
Sometimes in life, the mountains we face overwhelm us at first sight, we feel defeated before we ever begin the climb. Doubts creep in and cold, hard reality whispers, “That’s impossible, you can’t make it!” The truth is—you can’t. The good news is—God can! Set your sights on God, knowing that He’s working all things together for your good, knowing He loves you and has a purpose for your life, every day of it. Then, trust Him. Remember that ‘grace has strengthened you time after time, so don’t be afraid of the mountain, friend, you were born to climb’.
The Sun Will Shine Again

Anniversaries require us to look back. I recently celebrated an anniversary I never planned to celebrate, the one year anniversary of my initial diagnosis of breast cancer. Although, I didn’t plan it, I do celebrate. I celebrate being a survivor and I’ve done an awful lot of looking back over the past month. I remember hurting so badly that falling asleep, when it rarely happened, was my only relief. I remember crying so much that there were no tears left to cry, just groans out of an aching heart. I remember anger, fear, and feeling like the unfairness of it all was simply more than I could bear. It was a dark time. A season without sunshine, nothing but clouds covering all my blue skies, but you know what else I remember? I remember the intimacy of God like I’d never known. I remember feeling so loved by family and friends that no words could adequately convey the depth. And, I remember believing ‘the dark clouds will vanish and the rain will end, there’s a brighter day around the bend, I know the sun will shine again’.

Increasing Speed Limits Doesn't Kill, Test Confirms 80 MPH Okay

Utah: Increasing Speed Limits Doesn't Kill

Test Confirms 80 MPH Okay

Posted: Nov, 06 2009

By: Jonathon Ramsey, AOL Autos

Humans are marvelous at self-organization -- it's how we get nomadic tribes and cities like Tokyo, it explains how New Yorkers avoid each other and actually get places on the sidewalks in midtown, and it leads to things like book-of-the-month clubs. It also explains how we avoid accidents at intersections when the red light stops working. Given our choice, we will find ways on our own to live together, mostly safely.

The blackest and whitest versions of the speed limit debate put "Speed Kills!" on one side and "No it doesn't!" on the other. Because both sides have metric tons of paperwork to prove their positions, the chance that the debate will be settled in our lifetimes is intergalactically remote. A recent speed limit trial in Utah, though, appears to be another scrap of evidence for those on the side of "No it doesn't."

"The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT)," began an article in TheNewspaper.com, "announced last week that the experimental increase in the state's maximum speed limit to 80 MPH has been a success in terms of safety. UDOT Deputy Director Carlos Braceras testified before the state Interim Committee on Transportation that that there has been no increase in accidents as a result of the higher number printed on the speed limit signs on certain stretches of Interstate 15."

Barring any other considerations, a speed limit is determined by studying the behavior of 85% of traffic over a given stretch of road. That 85th percentile is given credit for self-organizing into a group that moves at the safest and most efficient speed. There doesn't appear to be any clear-cut study that proves this, but it has been gospel for so long that it is now the precedent for deciding limits, and in some instances, court cases.

The UDOT measured the speed of that 85th percentile before and after raising the limit. When the maximum allowable speed was 75 mph, it reported most drivers doing between 81 and 85 mph. Given another five miles an hour to legally play with, a year of observation found that most drivers doing between 83 and 85 mph. The vehicular carnage that some suspected didn't materialize, nor did drivers automatically begin driving 90 or 95 mph. As was the case before the limit was raised, people liked going about 85 on the stretches of road in question. They probably also enjoyed not getting tickets for it.

Without taking sides, Utah's findings do match recent findings and decisions in other states. When the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) studied speed limits on six sections of roads it maintains, it changed the speed limits on five of them: one saw a decrease of 5 mph, the other four were increased from 5 to 10 mph.

When Montana had no daytime speed limit, fatalities not only went down but Montana recorded the state's fewest road fatalities during that period. Internationally, the number of fatalities per billion vehicle kilometers has been higher in the U.S. for about the past seven years than anywhere in Western Europe except for Ireland. Even Germany and its unrestricted autobahn suffer fewer injury incidents than the U.S.

Outside of the safety issue, some folks have chosen to see Utah's DOT results as proof that higher limits mean less speeding. That could be cheating a bit by using a relative definition of speeding -- people didn't actually slow down, the law just happened to catch up to them. Almost.

It could be more informative to see the issues of speeding and safety as follow-on effects of the widely held but as-yet-unproved instinct at work: 85% of people found a speed range at which they can drive mostly safely. And as that range didn't really change after the posted limit was changed, we can assume that the instinct for a safe speed has nothing to do with what the posted and enforced speed limit happens to be.

People want to get where they're going quickly and alive. If the powers that be would set limits more in accordance with that fact, perhaps the national blood pressure – and that of drivers – would flow more efficiently and just as safely. At least, it wouldn't hurt to try it out here and there.

It gets back to that self-organizing thing we've been perfecting for thousands of years. As a herd, we will find ways on our own to live together, mostly safely. Even in the fast lane.
